4 point weekend

A four point weekend against the Thunderbirds has moved the Silvertips up in to 6th place. The Tips are one point ahead of the Valley West Hawks and have two games in hand. The tips beat the Thunderbirds 3-0 with Riley Medves getting the shutout on Saturday and 3-1 on Sunday with Michael Herringer getting the win.

Goals on Saturday were scored by Corey Renwick, Jordan Levesque and Will MacNamara. with assists to Dunlop, Dial, McShane, Moore, Osbourne and Gomerich.

Goals Sunday were scored by Dunlop, Zinck, and Lang. With assists to Dial, Levesque and Boutilier.

TWO HARD FOUGHT WINS THIS WEEKEND AGAINST THE VANCOUVER CANADIANS HAVE PLACED THE TIPS INTO SEVENTH PLACE ONLY ONE POINT BEHIND THE OKANAGAN ROCKETS.

Saturdays game against the Canadians began with the visitors going up 1-0 early in the first. The Tips Ryan Coghlan answered midway through the first with an unassisted goal. Jordan Levesque scored two goals in the second to put the Tips up 3-1. Assists were from Chase Lang, Kyle MacDonald and Garrett Dunlop. Only 34 seconds later the Canadians responded to make it 3-2. The Canadians tied the game up early in the third and then a fabulous effort forechecking on the penalty kill by Curtis McCarrick, who turned the puck over and onto the stick of Corey Renwick, who then put the Tips winning goal easily into the Canadian's net. A great team effort to close out the game kept it 4-3 and Riley Medves had the win in net.

Sunday's game saw the return of defenseman Quinlan Moore who had been out for 15 games.

The Silvertips scored two unanswered goals in the first period. The first goal by David Osborne was assisted by Hobin Zinck and Liam Shaw. The second goal was scored by Chase Lang unassisted.

The Canadians scored early in the second and the Tips responded twelve minutes later with a goal from the point by Quentin McShane and assisted by Shane Dial. The Tips scored again in the third with his second of the game by David Osborne, assisted by Jackson Robinson and Ryan Coghlan. Michael Herringer had a great effort in net for the win.

Two wins for Tips on the Road

In the third meeting of the season between the Tips and Ice, the Tips got off to a great first period with four unanswered goals. Garrett Dunlop scored the first two with two assists from Jordan Levesque and one each from Kyle MacDonald and Chase Lang. The third goal was scored by Derian Hamilton with assists from Hobin Zinck and Liam Shaw. The fourth goal was scored by Kyle MacDonald and assisted by Garrett Dunlop and Chase Lang.

The Tips began the second period on the power play and within 21 seconds Jordan Levesque scored, assisted by Garrett Dunlop (with his fourth point of the game), and Dayton Boutilier. The Ice answered with two goals in a row in the second, the second goal was a penalty shot.

Both teams scored two goals in the third period. The Tips 6th was a short handed goal scored by Chase Lang with assists to Will McNamara and Jordan Levesque. The seventh and final Tips goal was scored by Jackson Robinson and assisted by Ryan Coghlan and Shane Dial. The game ended 7-4 with Michael Herringer getting the win in net. The Tips had 71 penalty minutes which included 3 Check From Behind penalties. The Ice had just 3 minor penalties.

Sunday's game was a 7-1 romp for the Tips. The team managed to only get 7 minor penalties a significant decrease from Saturday's game while the Home team had only 4 minor penalties. Derian Hamilton began the scoring for the Tips midway through the first on the power play with assists from Quentin McShane and Shane Dial. The second goal came 5 minutes later from Chase Lang and assisted by Garrett Dunlop and Kyle MacDonald. The Tips scored two more goals early in the second to make it 4-0. Goals were from Garrett Dunlop and assisted by Chase Lang and Jordan Levesque and then Chase Lang from Garrett and Ryan Coghlan on the Power Play.

The Ice scored the next goal to make it 4-1 while the Tips were serving a penalty. One more goal for the Tips, to end the second period, was scored, to complete his hat trick, by Chase Lang and assisted by Garrett Dunlop and Jordan Levesque. Third period goals by Shane Dial from Corey Renwick and Kyle MacDonald and Hobin Zinck from Shane Dial and Nic Gomerich made it a 7-1 score. Riley Medves had the win in net.

Up and Down weekend with the Hawks

A weekend of Games with the Valley West Hawks was a surprise for both teams.

Saturdays game had the Silvertips up two power play goals early in the first. The first goal by Jordan Levesque with assists from Chase Lang and Ryan Coghlan, and the second by Ryan Coghlan from Chase Lang and Liam Shaw. The Tips finished the 1st period with their third goal, a beauty by Shane Dial from Garret Dunlop and Chase Lang.

The Second Period had a surprised Hawks team still on their heels and the Tips got their 4th goal from Ryan Coghlan with assists to Chase Lang and Jordan Levesque. The fifth goal of the game was scored by #16 Garret Dunlop with the assist (and his 5th of the game) from Chase Lang and Kyle MacDonald. The sixth and last goal of the game was scored by Will MacNamara and assisted by Nic Gommerich and Dayton Boutilier.

The Hawks were stunned by the goal tending of Riley Medves- who worked hard for the shutout. The frustration of the Hawks showed on the number of trips to the Penalty box. The Hawks total penalty minutes for the game was 76 and the Tips had 24.

Sundays game was practically the opposite. The Hawks came out hard and disciplined and got three unanswered goals in the first period, and two in the second period. A goal for Chase Lang with assists from Ryan Coghlan and Kyle McDonald in the third was too little, too late. Final score 6-1 Hawks. Both teams kept penalty minutes down with 12 for the Tips and 16 for the Hawks. Riley Medves was in net for the Silvertips.

Four points for Tips

This weekend produced 4 points for the Silvertips moving their record to 6 wins and 6 losses. Michael Herringer got both wins in net. Chase Lang had a 4 goal weekend. The Silvertips beat the Thunderbirds in the first game at Juan de Fuca 3-1, the victory was achieved without their Captain Quentin McShane, Blueliner Quinlan Moore and forward Garrett Dunlop. Lang had two of the goals and Shane Dial had a tip in off a Dayton Boutilier shot from the point.

Sundays game proved to be a little tougher. With Quentin McShane and Garrett Dunlop back in the lineup, the tips were up 2-0 at the end of the first with a power play goal from Chase Lang and the second goal from Curt McCarrick. Thunderbirds scored early in the second and then Jackson Robinson made it 3-1 Tips. The Thunderbirds then scored on the powerplay making it 3-2. Another goal for the Thunderbirds ended the second period at 3-3. Early in the third defenseman Ryan Coglan put the Tips up 4-3. Chase Lang then got his fourth of the weekend to make it 5-3. With 5 minutes left in the third period the Thunderbirds scored on a power play to make it 5-4. The Silvertips managed to hold them off for the remainder of the game and come away with the Victory.

Tips get split

The Silvertips came away with a split from Prince George this weekend. After a tough 8-2 loss on Saturday the Tips came back on Sunday with a great effort and a 5-4 win. More details on Major Midget website.
